Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join?

That's an easy one: you just need to turn up and run. It's totally free. But please do make yourself known to a run leader and sign up on the website so we have your safety 'ICE' information.

When do you run?

Our regular runs are Tuesday morning at 6:30am and Thursday evening, meeting at 5:50pm for a 6:00pm start. See our runs page for full details.

Where do you run from?

All regular runs meet at Clarence Park in Bury, at the Jubilee Centre next to the Lido.

How far do you run?

On Thursdays, we have 3k, 5k, 7k and 10k options. If you are not ready for those distances, try our Jeffing Group and we will help you get there.

How fast do you run?

Thursday runs cater for all abilities. The Jeffing Group alternates 30 seconds of running with 30 seconds of walking; social runs are conversational; and stretch runs are usually around 6:15 to 6:30 min/km.

What if I can’t keep up?

We aim to have a tail runner with each group, and experienced members will stay with you and keep you company. We do not leave anyone behind.

Do you run in bad weather?

We meet as normal when it is safe to do so, although adjustments may be needed. Significant changes are usually communicated in advance.

Is there somewhere to park?

The Lido car park is just off Milner Avenue, and parking is free.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately, only assistance dogs are allowed on our Thursday runs.

Can I run with a pushchair?

Yes, although not all routes are suitable. Please check the route map beforehand.

Are your run leaders qualified?

Yes. All our run leaders hold the England Athletics Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) certificate, and a number are also first-aid trained.
